About NomadCritic

NomadCritic is for people choosing where to work remotely. Most "best cities for digital nomads" lists are opinion. This site ranks 71 cities on three things you can measure: how many hours of your team's working day you share, how comfortable the weather is in the month you'd be there, and how expensive everyday life is in that country.

How it is made. An automated system reads the open datasets listed on the methodology page, computes every figure and ranking, and rebuilds the site every day, so advisories and today's shared hours stay current. No text about a city is written by hand, and every figure traces to a named source.

Checks. Before publishing we checked the shared-hours calculation by hand on dates either side of clock changes, and compared the climate figures with official 1991–2020 station normals for Lisbon, Buenos Aires, Bangkok, Medellín, Singapore and Mexico City. Average highs agreed within 1.6°C everywhere (within 0.5°C in Lisbon). Lows agreed within 2°C except in Mexico City, where our grid cell runs 2.5–3°C colder at night than the Tacubaya station in the city: big cities hold heat at night, and a ~4 km grid cannot fully see that. Rainfall in the tropics tends to read 10–25% low.

Independence. No city, tourist board or company pays to appear here, and the rankings are the formula, applied the same way to every city. There is no advertising or affiliate linking on the site today. If that changes, the privacy page will say so first.
